BASEL CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BERNE’S ORANGE EXPERIENCE: Since the beginning of EURO 2008, Benedikt Weibel, Federal Council delegate for the EURO 2008, has visited all host cities, fan zones and fan miles in Switzerland and was able to present an overwhelmingly report at today’s press briefing in Berne. Also after the matches in Basle and Geneva, there were no incidents worth talking about. In Berne, Geneva and Zurich many Turkish fans celebrated their team’s victory with car processions and the traffic suffered no undue disruptions. (Source: http://www.switzerland.com)

INTERIM RESULT FOR THE EURO 2008 IN CANTON APPENZELL AUSSER RHODEN: Until now all events related to the EURO 2008 as well other festivities ran smoothly. The police was only called out a few times to take care of some drunken persons. The Appenzell police officers serving at home, as well as those serving in other cantons are all very enthusiastic about their contribution to the EURO 2008. (Source http://www.ar.ch)

PAPIERMUEHLE-STREET IN BERN. TEMPORARILY CLOSED: The PAPIERMUHLE street will be closed between the Guisan Place and the Wankdorf-Junction, from Monday 16th of June 2008 at 10p.m. till Wednesday 18th of June at roughly 3a.m. During this time, all motor vehicle drivers are requested to avoid the area around the Stade de Suisse. SKIRMISHES AND FIGHTING FANS: Some skirmishes occurred in and around the UBS arena between drunken fans from various countries during the games yesterday. All together 14 people were arrested and released following questioning and identification. Three persons were issued with banning orders for 10 days, and 6 others for 2 days. EURO 2008 IN WINTERTHUR. THE NINTH DAY: Shortly before the end of the game, the traffic in the Zeughausstrasse and the Technikumstrasse came to a standstill due to the large number of departing fans.
