Daily Overview Security EURO 2008

Daily Overview Security EURO 2008, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 (mic)

STABLE SECURITY SITUATION: The cantonal police of Thurgau look back on a positive “first halftime” of the EURO 2008. The fact that no major incidents occurred was due to a constant police presence. On each of the ten match days, the security situation was always under control at despite the rain and the sometimes very active audience. Whenever a difficult situation was brewing, the cantonal police intervened in a friendly but resolute manner and attempted to act as a de-escalation force as long as possible. BASLE/STUTTGART: POSITIVE RESULTS. After three matches in the border town of Basel and seven others in Switzerland, the border patrols draw a positive conclusion. The “one-stop” controles have proved of value. (http://www.securityeuro2008.ch)

ZURICH: EURO 2008 BULLETINS CONTINUED. The joint media center of cantonal and municipal police of Zurich and Protection & Rescue Zurich continue to inform about events related to the EURO 2008 in one common media information. The bulletins have proved of value but will be slightly reduced now that no more matches are played in Zurich. (http://www.securityeuro2008.ch).
